Old and important European private collection, assembled before 1930 and between 1950 and 1980
Huang Jun was from Yuanhe, today Suzhou. He was an official and a painter of landscapes and birds and flowers. He first studied the style of Huang Ding (1660-1730), then followed the style of the Loudong school. This nice painting combines the literati style with fresh coloring and a genre scene: Two scholars, accompanied by two servant boys, are watching the release of horses in the outskirts of Suzhou during springtime
